About Vessel & Countertop Basins
Basins to set on a countertop
There are many different styles of bathroom washbasin so here you can find important information about each style, how to use and install them and which style best suits your particular needs.
When selecting a basin, regardless of the type or style, there are two important considerations.
The basin can be designed for a single tap, a pair of taps or no taps at all, where the tap could be wall or countertop mounted or even free standing. Basins are designated as 0TH (literally no tap hole) for no tap provision, 1TH for a single (mixer) tap, 2TH for a pair of pillar taps and even 3TH for a 3-piece mixer.
Most basins have an overflow system which allows water to drain away if the tap is accidently left on, but not all. In particular, many Vessel Basins have no overflow at all and although it is rarer to find other styles of basin with no overflow, there are some.
You need to be aware of these details as they will certainly influence your choice of tap and waste fitting.
