The basics.
We are looking at the option of adding underfloor heating for your bathroom, this is not to be confused with a full "wet" underfloor heating system which is an option only at the house building stage.
How it works.
A length of electric heating cable is installed below the finished flooring, and as an electrical current passes through this heats up and warms the floor surface. The temperature can be thermostatically controlled and also the system can be timed to switch on and off automatically.
There are slightly differing designs for use with the various flooring finishes, but all work on the same basic principal.
Some types are simply a length of cable which can be snaked up and down the floor
while others are supplied with the cable already fixed onto a webbing mat which can be unrolled over the floor as required. The webbing mat can be cut to allow for the shape of the room.
