Balcoon, the Patricia Urquiola design, brings striking elegance
Balcoon – inspired by the overlapping of materials is the new designer series from Duravit.
Created for the medium price segment the overall design plays with differences in height, projections and the overlapping of materials and textures, from which the name 'Balcoon' is derived.
The above-counter basins create a sculptural focal point in the room. Playing with two different levels in this way is a constant across the entire collection – from the wall-mounted washbasins through the toilets and bidets up to the furniture elements and bathtubs. Earthy shades and textured finishes help to bring a ‘hand-made’ feel to the ceramics
One of the striking details within the Balcoon washing area is the console it has an integrated rear panel, and underneath Patricia Urquiola has created an unusual, partly asymmetric arrangement of drawers and open shelves. The optical tension of the furniture elements is further reinforced by the combination of contrasting colours.
The Balcoon acrylic built-in bathtubs re-enforce the interplay between two levels with visually striking details: the oval, raised edge of the tub sits on a seamless acrylic panel that extends into the corners and is easy to clean. This is combined with an inviting ergonomically shaped interior.
To complete the range there are matching taps for the washing area, bidet, shower, and bathtub. The cylindrical handle transitions down into the body of the tap in a gentle curve, and is available in three surface variants of Chrome, Matt Black, and Stainless Steel. In addition the Balcoon taps offer resource-saving functions including Fresh Start and Minus Flow that save energy and water.
